Advocate
"I'm always an advocate for my clients and want to help them get ahead. I go beyond just responding to their needs and try to look into the future. You don't do things for purely tax reasons; you figure out what is important to clients and work taxes around that – not the other way around. I don't let taxes control life decisions."
Jim has over 30 years of experience in accounting. He owned his own practice and worked for three high net worth individuals before joining CEO Solutions in November of 2007. Jim wanted to return to a firm when he was introduced to Jeff Stutzman and Tom Helling. Impressed with their innovative approach, he joined the team.
A self described "tax guy" Jim says, "I do tax work and planning, trying to maximize client cash flow and save them money. I advise clients on tax strategies and a lot of compliance issues. I'm very technically sound. I care about my clients and I want them to have the best possible experience."
Jim changed majors in college after attending an Accounting Club meeting with some friends. It seemed like a better fit for him than his previous major and he saw the opportunities it allowed him to work directly with people. He has built strong personal relationships with his clients and easily describes that as the best part of his job.
When Jim isn't around the office being a "tax guy" he can be found spending time with his wife of 29 years and three children. Jim loves the outdoors and enjoys sailing, kayaking, canoeing, hiking, backpacking and canyoneering (hiking and climbing in canyons). He hunts, fishes and confesses almost all of these trips revolve around some kind of outdoor sport.
